Our organization was initially stimulated by a desire to facilitate educational and professional development opportunities for our community in Northeast Ohio and beyond. We saw a need to provide opportunity and foundational skills so kids can better learn, grow, and achieve their dreams. We are determined to help folks of all ages unlock their true potential by facilitating educational and professional development programs.
Who is Little Lumpy?
Little Lumpy is the main character in Little Lumpy’s Book of Blessings by the center’s Executive Director, Reverend Dr. Leah Lewis, J.D. Not unlike the folks we serve, Little Lumpy embodies love, lifelong learning, creativity, and intellectual curiosity.
What drives us
1) The use of a literacy platform to develop public-private partnerships that support academic, entrepreneurial, and vocational pursuits
2) Enhancing the educational experiences of students through culturally relevant and innovative curriculum and instruction using leading-edge scholarship, practical insights, and technology
3) Supporting vocational, academic, and entrepreneurial pursuits of engaged students
4) Fostering workforce development and incubating talent, particularly in the tech field (for example, in Animation, Computer and Digital Sciences)
What we’ve accomplished together
Since our inception we have developed and produced the Great Lakes African American Writers Conference (GLAAWC, or as we like to say, “glossy”). Additionally, we are working an eLearning project and a workforce development project. To learn more, visit our ‘Initiatives’ tab above.
